The exhibition in the Ionic Hall of the Museum of Fine Arts is the first in Hungary dedicated to ancient Mesopotamia. One of the outstanding strengths of our exhibition is that it brings together more than 150 objects loaned by seven prominent European collections, offering unparalleled insight into the world of this long-lost culture.
The exhibition covering more than 3,000 square metres features almost 3,600 artefacts in 8 thematic units. The creation of a new exhibition of Hungarian and international themes covering an area three times the size of the Kossuth Square building had an impact on the Museum’s public spaces, offering various novelties and services to enhance visitor experience.
This concert from Dominika Ács and Krisztián Oláh (both Junior Prima winners) will bring seven Greek goddess archetypes to life. The characteristics of the goddesses are notably wide-ranging, from strong, warrior-like traits to those of a more vulnerable and sensitive nature. Together, they embody the diversity of femininity. The duo's inspiration comes from a fusion of existing works with their own compositions and improvisations, fully exploiting the abilities of their collaboration. In terms of spectacle, Anna Oláh will depict the heroines, while Niké Kurta's direction and presence will complete the performance with elements of total art.

The statue of Archangel Gabriel on top of the Corinthian column of the Millennium Monument on Heroes’ Square will be lifted off and fully restored for the first time in 120 years. The condition of the nearly five-metre-high bronze statue has drastically detoriated over the decades, and since only aesthetic intervention had been carried out in previous renovation projects, its renovation has become imperative. In the first and most spectacular phase of the project, implemented by the Városliget Zrt. asset management company, a huge scaffolding system will be constructed around the 36-meter-high column to facilitate the lift-off. After being transported to a conservation workshop, it will be restored to its original condition within 6-12 months, depending on the assessment of its internal condition. The restoration, commissioned by the National Heritage Institute, will be carried out by the winner of a public procurement announced based on the assessment after the lift-off. The restored statue of Archangel Gabriel is planned to be returned to Heroes’ Square in the first half of 2025. During the restoration works, the bronze statue of Archangel Gabriel and the capital of its supporting column will be reinforced.
