House of Music Hungary

How would you introduce the Earth and the human beings who inhabit it to someone who has never been here before? What would you put in a time capsule for whoever is living here in 1,000 years to open?  This new temporary exhibition at the House of Music Hungary, opening on March 7, 2025, seeks answers to these questions while simultaneously inviting visitors on an absolutely amazing musical journey to discover the forgotten, rarely heard, and unique musical traditions our planet has to offer, drawn from all over: Georgia and Belize to Crete, Patagonia, Iceland, India and far beyond.

City Park Visitor Center

An impressive exhibition space has opened in the City Park Visitor Center, located in the building of the Museum of Ethnography. Here, a life-size replica of the statue of Archangel Gabriel has been installed. This allows visitors to get up close and personal with the artwork - which is otherwise only visible from a height of 36 meters -, and even take photos with it. The free exhibition is further enhanced by spectacular projections.

House of Music Hungary

Dóra Tápai, a House of Music Hungary music educator, invites anyone interested in playing music games to come together for a spot of afternoon tea! Music and singing are two of the best ways to help achieve good mental and physical health, as the rhythm and melodies help activate different areas of the brain. This 90-minute session will refresh and reinvigorate you with an experience that is genuinely recreational! Joy, Music, Club Life is a club afternoon that offers an interactive musical experience in an informal atmosphere for anyone interested in enjoying instrument and melody-based games. No prior training is required, as we put Zoltán Kodály's idea into practice: “Let music belong to everyone!” The relaxed atmosphere of the afternoon will be enhanced by a shared tea break where we invite everyone for a delicious drink! The idea for the club was inspired by the successful music-based practices of adult music educational programmes. The session is led by the singing-music teacher and choirmaster Dóra Tápai, who is a music educator at the House of Music Hungary. Duration of event, including tea break: 90 minutes. Venue: music education room. This program is held in Hungarian.
