William Blake (1757-1827) is a towering presence in British art and literature. His visionary works in painting, print and watercolour have gone on to inspire generations. The exhibition presents a selection of his finest works from the Tate Collection, putting them in the context of a turbulent moment in British art, imagination and history.
The exhibition covering more than 3,000 square metres features almost 3,600 artefacts in 8 thematic units. The creation of a new exhibition of Hungarian and international themes covering an area three times the size of the Kossuth Square building had an impact on the Museum’s public spaces, offering various novelties and services to enhance visitor experience.
How would you introduce the Earth and the human beings who inhabit it to someone who has never been here before? What would you put in a time capsule for whoever is living here in 1,000 years to open? This new temporary exhibition at the House of Music Hungary, opening on March 11, 2025, seeks answers to these questions while simultaneously inviting visitors on an absolutely amazing musical journey to discover the forgotten, rarely heard, and unique musical traditions our planet has to offer, drawn from all over: Georgia and Belize to Crete, Patagonia, Iceland, India and far beyond.

Hungarian audiences can encounter William Blake’s visual art for the first time at the exhibition opening at the Museum of Fine Arts on 25 September. The Marriage of Heaven and Hell – William Blake and His Contemporaries presents outstanding works by one of the most significant figures of British art and literature, selected from the collection of Tate, London, while offering an insight into a particularly vibrant period in English fine arts.
