After the Városliget Lake is revamped, it is envisioned that it will serve as a decorative water surface embracing Széchenyi Island and the rebuilt Páva (Nádor) Island all year round. An obvious exception to this will be the ice rink, which will be separated from the lake with a mobile dam to ensure and sustain carefree skating in what will be Europe’s largest open-air rink. After the implementation of the plans, the lake will be cleaner, rich in vegetation, and more beautiful. According to plans, there will be a spectacular aquatic installation and a walkway leading above the water allowing visitors to walk around the entire Vajdahunyad Castle. Importantly, as the water will not be drained seasonally, significant aquatic and lakeside vegetation can be planted here. These landscaping developments are based on engineering solutions like the improvement of water regulation and solving the problem of water management.
